COMEBACK STORIES
The Bible is filled with stories of God going out of His way to use imperfect people for incredible things. In this 10-week series, we learn how we can apply the same lessons to our lives to achieve our own comeback stories!
Week 1
GOD WILL MAKE YOU UNCOMFORTABLE
Do you feel like you've missed your calling? Are you struggling to find purpose in your day-to-day life? The number one thing that may be blocking you from what God has waiting for you is being too comfortable where you are. But don't worry, the Bible gives us a roadmap on how to embrace the uncomfortable and make an impact.
Week 2
THIS IS WHY THE FIRST STEP IS THE MOST DIFFICULT
Tell us if this has happened to you before: You decide that God is pushing you in a direction, you finally decide to step boldy into it, and things immediately go wrong. Well, maybe that means the enemy doesn't want what God wants. In Week 2 of our study of Nehemiah in "Comeback Stories," we take a deep dive into one of the signature pages of the devil's playbook: resistance.
Week 3
7 TRUTHS EVERY BUILDER MUST REMEMBER
Do you want to leave a legacy? For most of us, the answer to that is an easy "yes," but it gets complicated when we start figuring out what that legacy is and how to achieve it. In Week 3 of our study of the rebuilding of the wall in Jerusalem, we examine how Nehemiah navigates opposition, doubt, and even the reality of his work being ultimately undone.
Week 4
THE RETURN OF THE ROCK
How does a comeback actually happen? It doesn't happen over night, and the unfortunate reality is that something bad has to happen first for one to even be necessary. In Week 4 of "Comeback Stories," Pastor Brandon Petty from Generation Church leads us through a study of Peter's journey from declaring Jesus the Messiah, to denying him three times, to ultimately leading the spread of the Gospel.
Week 5
Everyone gets tired. We're not just talking about being physically tired, but mentally and emotionally exhausted. And when that exhaustion hits, people are watching closely to see how we respond. In Week 5 of "Comeback Stories," Pastor Jeremy DeLoach examines a moment in Exodus 17 where Moses is being crushed by the weight of guiding the Israelites. When his tank hits empty, He gives in to what God is about to do through him.
WHEN YOUR TANK IS ON EMPTY
Week 6
LEAD ANYWAY
What do you do when God says no? In Week 6 of “Comeback Stories,” we see Moses rebel against God and suffer the consequence of never getting to enter the Promised Land. He easily could’ve decided that was the end of his journey, but instead allowed God to use him to prepare a new leader. Moses teaches us to never abandon the assignment, even if God changes the outcome.
Week 7
4 LESSONS FROM ABRAHAM LINCOLN
Abraham Lincoln is regarded by many as the greatest US president, but his path to get there was an ugly one From early political defeats, to constant turmoil while in office, Lincoln had to learn the hard way that his own knowledge and strength weren't enough to fix a broken country. Instead, he had to rely on a God powerful enough to heal all wounds.
Week 8
"But it's complicated." It's a sentence we've all said at one point or another, and it's usually as a counter to a solution that sounds like it HAS to be too simple for our situation. But just because a situation is difficult, doesn't mean it's actually complicated. As we continue "Comeback Stories," Pastor Nic Smith joins us to study Ecclesiastes 12:10-14 to learn that God's blueprint for you to get through this season really may be that simple.
IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE
Week 9
WHEN CHILDHOOD TRAUMA STILL HURTS
Have you ever been hurt by someone? It may seem like a silly question, but often times we like to pretend the answer is no, especially when it comes to our childhood. Today, we unpack the damage childhood trauma inflicts on us and those around us, and the steps we can take to find healing and break generational curses.
Week 10
DON’T MISS YOUR MOMENT
How many times have you delayed doing something because you didn't feel like you were quite ready? Or your finances weren't right? Or you were just too busy? The reality is that opportunities don't come when we're ready, but when God is. In the final week of "Comeback Stories," Pastor Jeremy DeLoach teaches us the importance of taking the next step through the journey of Nicodemus.
