David is one of the most iconic heroes in the Bible, but he also makes some of the most devastating and heart-breaking mistakes. We’re spending 9 weeks studying how these co-exist to transform David into the “man after God’s own heart.”

As we begin our journey through the story of David in 1 Samuel 15 & 16, Pastor Jason Baugh guides us through 5 questions to prepare for the calling God has on our own lives.
Week 2
CHARACTERISTICS OF A GIANT KILLER
The story of David and Goliath may be the most famous story in the Bible, but what does it actually have to do with us today? The giants we face now can feel far greater than any ancient warrior, but the weapons God provides us to defeat them never change. Continuing through the life of David, we dive into 1 Samuel 16 and 17 to find 5 characteristics God still looks for in a giant killer.

Not all pain is created equal. The worst hurt we can experience is often from those we love and value most, but our response to betrayal dictates our healing. WHEN IT SEEMS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE
When something seems too good to be true, there are only two options, right? Either it is or it isn't. But too often with God, we CHOOSE to believe his blessings can't be real because of our own circumstances. In week 4 of "Beautifully Broken," we continue our Bible study of the life of David by comparing two stories on how to (and how not to) handle the times we feel completely undeserving of God's grace, mercy, and love.

6 SECRETS ABOUT SIN
You've heard of sin, you've even committed one or two, but do you know how it works? Satan has done everything he can to minimize how we view sin, while also maximizing the burdens we carry from it. But God's truth about sin is no secret. In week 5 of "Beautifully Broken," we study the process of David's adultery in 2 Samuel 11 to pick out six keys to understanding and exposing sin.
Week 6
WHEN GOD SAYS NO
Have you ever prayed and gotten no answer? Or even worse, the answer was the opposite of what you hoped for? The Bible is actually full of examples of God saying no, even to some of His most faithful followers. In Week 6 of "Beautifully Broken," we study a very difficult passage in 2 Samuel 12:13-23 where David pleads for his child's life... and God ultimately says no. But that no wasn't left without hope.

WHEN THERE’S DRAMA IN THE FAMILY
Nobody likes drama. It's inevitably going to pop up, and if drama isn't taken care of, it typically leads to more. Whether it be in a family, friend group, or even church, how we respond to drama determines the effect that it's able to have. In Week 7 of "Beautifully Broken," we study 2 Samuel 13 and 14 where David and his son Absalom have paralleling situations, but far different reactions.

5 MISTAKES TO SABOTAGE YOUR GIFTS
Have you ever heard of someone having a "God-given" talent? Maybe you’ve been told you have one. But the value of those gifts is determined by how we use them, and using them for our own gain over God's glory often leads to our demise. In Week 8 of our journey through the life of David, we pick out 5 mistakes David's son Absalom makes in 2 Samuel to sabotage his gifts and purpose.

WHEN 70,000 DEATHS ARE ALL YOUR FAULTS
In his last days, David made a mistake that would cost the lives of 70,000 people. And yet, the last words he would write were filled with praises for God. Do you want that to be your legacy? In the final week of "Beautifully Broken," we study David's costly decision to take a census in 2 Samuel 24 3-24.
